Academic Involvement

Irdeto contributes to a global, collective knowledge base for software security and media protection technology by partnering with leading institutions to help shape educational programming and curriculum.

Our research group also makes grants to some of the brightest minds in the industry as part of its ongoing mission to advance the science and technology of software security. By partnering with government agencies and universities to establish regular internship program, Irdeto provides an industry oriented research platform for graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.

We have also helped shape curriculum, conducted workshops, summer school programs in addition to presenting at leading institutions and organizations including:

London Business School - Professor Birkinshaw’s main area of expertise reside in the strategy and management of large multinational corporations, and on such specific issues as corporate entrepreneurship, innovation, subsidiary-headquarters relationship, knowledge management, network organizations, and global customer management. IMD Switzerland - Every year, some 8,000 executives, representing over 100 nationalities, attend more than 20 open-enrollment Executive Development Programs (including intensive MBA and EMBA programs).Irdeto’s CEO, addressed an audience of graduate students comprised largely of engineers at IMD in 2010. ACM Intl Summer School - Irdeto’s involvement marks the latest global initiative of its Cloakware Advanced Research Center (CARC) and is illustrative of the company’s commitment to helping secure content while increasing awareness of software security among academic and industrial communities in China and beyond. Cloakware Workshop of INSCRYPT, Beijing - The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has a 20 year history of conducting research and developing critical technology in the area of information security. Each year INSCRYPT, which is held at CAS, seeks high-quality research contributions with topics of interest encompassing research advances in all areas of cryptology, information security and their applications. MITACS Workshop on Network Security and Cryptography, Toronto - The 5 day event produced by MITACS – a Canadian Center of Excellence, consisted of tutorials, industry-academic forums, and plenary talks on the topic of network security and white-box cryptography. Irdeto led a session on White-box cryptography which is a way of implementing cryptography in software to provide resistance to powerful attackers.

University involvement and our joint laboratories are important components to Irdeto's research efforts. Both have led to meaningful papers and technology breakthroughs while helping to foster opportunities for the next generation of important researchers in the field.
