University Involvement

Universities have been the birthplace of many inventions that have changed the world: World Wide Web, the computer, LCD screens, insulin, rocket fuel, and countess other life changing ideas.

Irdeto recognizes the breakthrough thinking that occurs at universities around the globe and stays close to academia to help foster discoveries that will lead us to the next frontier. We are pleased to work with leading universities in the Americas, Asia Pacific and EMEA.

University involvement in Asia Pacific:

  • Yuan Xian Gu of Irdeto accepted the position of guest professor at Northwest University of China.

  • Northwest University is home to the Northwest University-Irdeto Joint Lab on Security of Information and Internet of Things.

  • In 2011, Irdeto research invited to visit and give seminar presentations at: Key Lab of Information Security of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Sun Yat-Sen University, South China University of Technology and Xian University of Posts and Telecommunications in China.

University involvement in Europe, Middle East and Africa:

  • 2nd ACM International Summer School 2011 on Information Security and Protection (ISSISP) held in Ghent, July 2011.

  • Participation in Modeling Week 2010 at the University of Eindhoven, where 30 students participated in a week long modeling project. Irdeto provided five of the modeling problems that students had to solve as part of the mathematics for industry program.

  • Joint publications with University of Eindhoven on symposia and hierarchical access control.

  • Research internship with Vrije University of Amsterdam, University of Eindhoven, University of Leuven Belgium, and students working on combined topics from University of Stellenbosch SA.

  • Irdeto collaborating with Eindhoven University of Technology and Civolution in the joint research project CREST (Collusion RESistant Tracing), funded by STW/Sentinels. The goal of the CREST project is to make progress on both the mathematical understanding and practical realization of collusion resistant watermarking.

  • In the Kindred Spirits project (funded by STW/Sentinels), Irdeto is collaborating with the Delft University of Technology, the University of Twente, Philips and TNO. The goal of Kindred Spirits is to improve privacy in online social networks, and the project focuses on privacy-aware recommender systems in particular.

  • Irdeto welcomes two post-master students from TU/e, Stan Ackerman Institute, Mathematics for Industry program to internship program.

University involvement in the Americas:

  • A joint research project between Irdeto and the University of Ottawa is awarded funding from the new research partnering program managed by the University of Ottawa with financial supports from multiple levels of Canadian governments.

  • Irdeto is invited to become a member of Industrial Advisory Board of Concordia Institute of Information System and Engineering (CIISE) of Concordia University.

  • Irdeto Research Canada visited the Department of Computer Science, University of Toronto. MITACS approved funding for a new research internship project of white-box computing security patterns and software security modeling with University of Toronto.

  • Research internship program with University of Arizona on software renewability protection.

    • Professor Ashraf Matrawy from Carleton University as a visiting professor spent one year of his sabbatical at Irdeto research as a leading investigator on the security of cloud computing.

    • Irdeto Research Canada gave a class lecture on software protection and security dynamics in Carleton University

    • An Irdeto researcher is invited to join Ph.D. committee for Professor Jack Davidson’s student of University of Virginia, USA.
