Irdeto Opens New DRM Center of Excellence in Beijing and Expands Research and Development Team

Beijing, China — January 27 2010 — Irdeto, a leading expert in content and business model protection solutions and services, has strengthened the company's commitment to Asia with a significant expansion of the company's Research and Development (R&D) team and the opening of a new Center of Excellence for Digital Rights Management (DRM) which is located at the company's Eastern headquarters in Beijing, China.

Situated in the heartland of global manufacturing, this state of the art facility provides significantly improved support for companies across Asia. Irdeto's broad spectrum of customers benefit from ready access to the latest Cloakware security technology that can be customized to meet mobile market needs; securing content, protecting Intellectual Property Rights and ensuring the continuation of hard-won revenue streams.

"The DRM Center of Excellence is a key component of our R&D facilities in Beijing. It demonstrates Irdeto's commitment to the future growth of the company's Asian operations and our determination to rollout cutting edge technology solutions to our extensive client base in the region and worldwide given the concentration of manufactures in this region with global focus," said Graham Kill, CEO of Irdeto.

"One key area addressed by the center is access to key mobile technologies for device manufacturers and here Irdeto has a proven Windows Media offering, recently supplemented by an OMA DRM client for Google's Android Operating System, which caters to the groundswell of Android-based mobile devices, smart phones, net books and other consumer electronic devices, added Kill."

In addition to mobile DRM, one of the key areas being addressed in the new center is the development of solutions for Digital Transmission Content Protection over Internet Protocol (DTCP-IP), which is intended to protect digital content so that it can be shared securely between devices in a user's home, but not shared with unauthorized users outside the home network.

Commenting on the importance of expanding the already large well established R&D team in Beijing, Graham Kill, CEO of Irdeto said: "Our customers are well known manufacturers of brand name mobile devices who are largely based in Asia these companies frequently require urgent support and our team needs to be available at any time of day to arrange office visits or conference calls to nearby time zones. Beijing is a hub that effectively meets these requirements and the growth of our support team locally ensures smoother business operations for all."
