Irdeto Announces Retirement of Vice President of Special Projects Andrew Curle
12 February 2009 — Amsterdam, The Netherlands — Irdeto, the leading expert in content and business model protection solutions and services, announced today that pay TV industry pioneer and Vice President of Special Projects Andrew Curle will retire 13 February 2009. Andrew Curle joined Irdeto in 1991 from M-Net in South Africa. Andrew has held numerous roles at Irdeto including General Manager Irdeto South Africa. He played a central role in the development of the MPEG/DVB standard on behalf of Irdeto.
In addition, he successfully led Irdeto's security initiatives as well as managing the quality assurance department. Andrew is one of the early pioneers of the pay TV industry and we thank him for his years of commitment, particularly in bringing conditional access (CA) technology to the mainstream and for his role in leading Irdeto's fight against piracy," said Graham Kill, Chief Executive Officer of Irdeto. "His contribution to the ongoing success of Irdeto and seeing the company enter its 40th successful year is very much appreciated. He will be greatly missed."
Prior to joining Irdeto, Andrew spent several years with M-Net and 30 years at the South African Broadcasting Corporation, completing his tenure there as Chief Research Engineer. Irdeto celebrates 40 years in operation this year and has grown from its humble beginnings, in founder Pieter den Toonder's lab in Dordrecht, to become a world leader in content and business model protection solutions and services protecting the revenue streams of more than 500 companies and tens of millions of subscribers worldwide.
