Irdeto will secure premium video content services from ORS until 2026
AMSTERDAM – 10 September 2016 – Irdeto, the world leader in digital platform security, and Austrian Broadcasting Services (ORS) today signed a new ten year deal which will see ORS implementing Irdeto Cloaked CA to enable the delivery of secure video entertainment services to its customers. The new partnership is the extension of a previous long-term relationship that sees ORS move from using Irdeto Conditional Access for smart cards, to software-based Cloaked CA.
“The market in Austria is highly competitive and evolving quickly, so it was important for us to establish a long-term relationship with a flexible security partner to support us as we expand our customer base and look to launch new services,” said Michael Wagenhofer, CEO, ORS.
“Irdeto Cloaked CA is unique in the market in its support of 4K UHD security standards in the satellite arena, and can be fully updated to support new options and mitigate evolving threats. ORS is a forward-thinking operator which realizes the importance of a secure platform for future innovation and growth and we are pleased to be continuing our relationship.” said Doug Lowther, CEO, Irdeto.
Norbert Grill, Managing Director & CTO, ORS commented, “The partnership with Irdeto over the last ten years has been a key enabler to help us establish our market position and its cardless CA offering will benefit our distribution chain, as we move away from the need to distribute smart cards, and enable us to roll-out new services quickly and efficiently.”
Irdeto Cloaked CA provides fully robust and effective security for both broadcast networks and connected IP environments. Bringing excellent flexibility and cost effectiveness, Irdeto Cloaked CA will allow ORS to continue to securely bring the latest content and services to its customers.
“In the competitive Austrian market, ORS is looking to provide new services and experiences for its customers and we are very happy to be renewing our partnership to provide a secure, future proof platform to enable this growth,” added Richard Frankland, VP Sales, EMEA at Irdeto.
Irdeto is also one of the first recipients of the Farncombe Security Audit™ Mark, which signifies to operators and service providers that its digital media content system has undergone an extensive security review.
