BCN Digital breaks new ground with Irdeto’s Conditional Access

Through its cutting-edge technology, Irdeto will provide Conditional Access for set-top boxes and Multi-DRM solutions to BCN Digital to secure premium content and extend reach to subscribers

AMSTERDAM, October 13, 2022 – Irdeto, the world leader in digital platform cybersecurity, today announces that Bhimavaram Community Network (BCN Digital), India’s multi-system operator, will implement a wide range of Irdeto cybersecurity solutions to secure their content. Irdeto will provide the company with the Conditional Access System for the Internet Protocol television set-top box services and multi-DRM for their OTT services.

BCN Digital has more than 2300 sub operators, providing HD quality picture and sound, 260+ channels, including 48 HD channels and VOD at a lower cost.

Irdeto Cloaked CA is the most advanced and widely deployed cardless conditional access system for broadcast and IPTV operators worldwide. By replacing the need for smart cards, Cloaked CA eliminates the logistical costs and complexity associated with smart card distribution and replacement, which may result in a vastly reduced Total Cost of Ownership of up to 40%.

Irdeto Control, the market-leading multi-DRM solution, sits at the center of OTT content delivery activities. Business benefits include high availability and scalability with industry-leading SLAs (up to 99.999%) and auto-scaling to handle traffic outbursts. It gives operators the confidence to scale their business and grow revenues with effective credential sharing. It delivers high service quality and embraces global OTT service expansion no matter when and where, allowing a fast time to market for new services, client devices, and DRM features.

It also offers reduced risk and lower total cost of ownership with flexible deployment models – fully managed “pay as you grow” cloud service or licensed solution deployed on-premises.

Irdeto IPTV & OTT solutions will be delivered to BCN Digital with Irdeto Control integrated with Broadpeak Nano Content Deliver Network and Multicast ABR (M-ABR) solutions. This project will be the first implementation of Control on a hybrid RDK STB and the first to support a multi-ABR deployment.

It is important to note that multicast ABR ensures low latency as it moves from broadcast to all-IP streaming. Therefore, to fully enjoy the benefits of what it brings to the table, the operator needs a highly scalable multi-DRM solution like Control, which delivers low latency even during high peak premium events.

According to BCN, Irdeto’s recognition and proven cutting-edge technology, which offers a fast time to market for new services, client devices, and DRM features, was the key attribute of the partnership. Irdeto also has experience in meeting and complying with the requirements of the local regulatory authorities.

“As a trusted and proven security leader in the region, Irdeto was a natural choice to protect our Asia’s first deployment of RDK STB video streaming services,” said Srinivas Raju Rudraraju, founder and managing director at Bhimavaram Community Network. “Irdeto Cloaked CA is most advanced and most widely deployed cardless conditional access system for broadcast and IPTV operators worldwide offers us cost-effective, end-to-end protection along with an agile approach and local presence to quickly respond to our requirements. This enables us to focus on delivering great content and experiences to BCN consumers.”

“This partnership extends Irdeto’s footprint in India among the country’s top operators. We are excited about working together to deliver the best possible content and viewing experience to BCN’s customers,” said Shane McCarthy, Chief Operating Officer for Video Entertainment at Irdeto.
